A Look At Opus Dei--#1

I've had a long standing interest, or better stated--curiosity, as to what is "Opus Dei". I am a "cradle Catholic" and had not heard of the organization until four or five of years ago. Today, I personally know several people associated with the organization and I've read several articles all of which make me conclude that the organization is quite different from the way it is portrayed in the secular press.

I decided I wanted to learn more about the organization first hand, as to my mind the people involved in "Opus Dei" are good people and I suspect many people authoring the secular press articles/critiques of the organization do not understand "spirituality" from a Catholic perspective. For all I know, "Opus Dei" may be an organization I could benefit from joining.

Anyway, I was invited to accompany a friend to an "Opus Dei" day of recollection on Saturday, August 18th. I accepted and we drove together which gave him an opportunity to explain a few things about the organization. In my a future blog I'll give a short rundown as to what I learned, what transpired at the August day of recollection and my opinion to that point. I plan on attending the day of recollection the third Saturday of either October or November after which I'll provide my third installment.
